Frequently Asked Questions

What are Silk Screen Safety Vests?

When we refer to silk screened safety vests, we are referring to safety vests that have been customized using our silk screening process. Silk screening uses ink to place either text or a logo into the front or back of an article of clothing. This done to either give the wearer some form of identification or to promote a business through the use of a logo.

How does the silk screening process work?

Screen printing works by passing ink through a screen onto the fabric being printed. We create our screens by using ultraviolet light to form the desired design. Once the ink has been transferred onto the safety vest or other garment, it is sent through a heater to cure. This heater is generally around 300 degrees Fahrenheit, but can vary based on the garment.

When should I choose screen printing over vinyl CAD cuts or embroidery?

Unless you need less than twelve safety vests customized, are customizing jackets, or need your customization to be highly reflective, you should select screen printing. Screen printing is the cheapest option, yet it is more durable and lasts longer than both vinyl and embroidery. There is a minimum order of twelve vests for screen printing and jackets cannot be customized with screen printing. Also, the only way to get highly reflective customization is to use our silver reflective vinyl, which is a CAD cut process.

Are there any downsides to silk screening?

When screen printing on mesh vests, the ink goes through the mesh holes. This means any text or logos placed on mesh vests will have small holes it. While this does not affect the durability, some people may not like how it looks. Since this is based on preference, it may or may not be a downside to you.

Can I print my design using more than four colors?

Yes! We offer up to six colors when screen printing, but you can only order up to four colors online. To get pricing for five or six color customization, please call 1-800-975-0986 to speak with one of our friendly customer service representatives.
