What are screen printed safety vests?
When we refer to screen printed safety vests, we are referring to safety vests that have been customized using our screen printing process. Screen printing uses ink to place either text or a logo into the front or back of an article of clothing. This done to either give the wearer some form of identification or to promote a business.
How does the screen printing process work?
Screen printing works by passing ink through a screen onto the fabric being printed. We create our screens by using ultraviolet light to form the desired design. Once the ink has been transferred onto the safety vest or other garment, it is sent through a heater to cure. This heater is generally set to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, but can vary based on the garment.
How much does screen printing cost?
Our pricing for screen printing is tiered, meaning the cost is lower on larger orders. Here is a chart showing our pricing per location for different combinations of quantities and colors:
|Quantity||1 Color||2 Color||3 Color||4 Color|
What is the artwork fee and how can I avoid paying it?
The artwork fee is a charge that is applied on top of your order if our graphic artists need to spend an hour or more making your logo “Camera Ready”. Before a logo can be screen printed, it must be correctly vectored so that it can be transferred to a screen. While sending us a “Camera Ready” image file is the easiest way to avoid any artwork fees, as long as your logo is a high quality image that is not too complicated, you will most likely not incur any charges. Here are the files we have deemed “Camera Ready” and some of the associated benefits:

When should I choose screen printing over vinyl heat transfers or embroidery?
Unless you need less than twelve safety vests customized, are customizing safety jackets, or need your customization to be highly reflective, you should select screen printing. Screen printing is the cheapest option, yet it is more durable and lasts longer than both vinyl and embroidery. There is a minimum order of 24 vests for screen printing and jackets cannot be customized with screen printing. Also, the only way to get highly reflective customization is to use our silver reflective vinyl, which is part of our vinyl heat transfer customization.
Are there any downsides to screen printing?
When screen printing on mesh vests, the ink passes through the mesh holes. This means any text or logos placed on mesh vests will have small holes it. While this does not affect the durability, it may be harder to read the text or identify the logo from a distance. Also, some people may simply not find it as aesthetically pleasing. Since this is based on preference, it may or may not be a downside to you.
Can I print my design using more than four colors?
Yes! We offer up to six colors when screen printing, but you can only order up to four colors online. To get pricing for five or six color customization, please call 1-800-975-0986 to speak with one of our friendly customer service representatives.
How much faster will I receive my order if I select the rush order option?
Choosing to add a rush to your order brings it to the top of the work queue. While this means your order will be completed faster, we cannot put an actual time frame on when your order will be completed due to other factors. These factors include:
Please also note that we still require your approval of the mockup(s) we send to you. The faster you reply to our approval emails, the faster we can get your custom safety vests to you.
