The Radians SV55 Type R Class 2 Heavy Duty Two Tone Engineer Safety Vest is designed for professional field engineers, surveyors and construction superintendents. It is made of rugged Oxford material in the front which can withstand tough working conditions and can hold extra weight in the cargo pockets. The vest also has reflective material on the edge binding for enhanced visibility at night. It features multiple multi-function pockets that are specifically designed for holding upside-down paint, water bottles, and tablets.

I really like this vest except for the fact that each flap of the pockets is secured with velcro. On the first pull of the pocket flap the velcro stitching is breaking and the velcro is starting to detach. For the price, I expected more. Otherwise, this vest would have received 5 stars.

I like the vest overall, but it is not as durable as I believe it should be. The velcro strips hold strong but the velcro strips are not sewed as securely, causing the velcro back end to become detached from the vest. I believe a double stitch would secure the velcro strips better and improve the durability.

Used the vest as a Volunteer Fire Fighter since June 2014. The interior pockets are large enough to hold trauma bandages and such while the exterior pockets allow me to carry my Walkie-Talkie, half dozen 6mil surgical gloves, whistle, lithium pen light, trauma shears, windshield punch, seat belt cutter, tourniquet and all the gear I normally need without carrying my jump bag every call or wearing a gear belt. The vest has held up admirably to wear and tear while working vehicle extractions and too many to count brush/woods fires filled with come-along thorn vines. The high vis remains intact as new (along with the Velcro closures) save some abrasion and charcoal scuffs. I will probably purchase another in the next year because I figure the vest has to give up the ghost one day!?

This site has these vests in size small, which is perfect for me as they’re all usually cut fairly large. I bought both of the lime and orange and they both literally lasted almost exactly one year each of constant 40hr a week use. Both of them had the zippers fail. These are still great vests, as I am able to carry a lot of small tools, water bottles, my tablet… and still be hands-free. If they made these with rugged snap buttons, they would probably last much longer.

All our foremen wear these and they appear durable, however, they run a size larger, even over winter coats. I am 5ft 7in 166lbs. I wear a Medium 38/40 in most clothing and coats but this is just big even overcoats. I am returning it for a Small. It has lots of pockets. On the inside left and right sides, it has two pockets of the same size, one zippered pocket on a drop-in pocket (each side). It has a large zippered back pocket and (I think) six large pockets on the front, 2 with elastic and 4 with Velcro flaps. Front pockets have holes for flag dispensing. It has a padded collar and all the fabric seems thicker. The foremen all say it is hotter because it's thicker with layered pockets.

My safety comes first and these new age cars don't make any noise, and I don't hear as well as I used to. Secondly, I want to be visible. I want people ( clients ) to notice I am there doing the job they pay us for. And when they see me I want to look Professional! I get a lot of 'can I help you 'Sir'? Not "What are you doing here?! The downside to well constructed is, if you work in a hot environment, it will be a bit warmer than what you're typically given by employers. Our work required the safety vest so the forklift can see you better since they move between 5 to 20 tons at a time. The only problem I have is once it is washed in cold water and left out to dry no dryer time it starts to fall apart the threads just start coming apart and it doesn't matter what laundry detergent I use. After 4 washes which is once a week you get a month out of it and it's trash. For the cost it should last longer.

With no pockets, I was always losing my pens and pencils along with breaking several calculators. This is my second vest to purchase from this site. The first vest was made with good quality and held up really well. It came time for me to purchase another vest so I came back to this site for the purchase. The transaction went smooth and the vest was shipped and received in a timely manner and was very happy with it so far. I unpackaged the vest and started looking it over to find the Velcro on the left chest pocket was only sewn on at top. The other three sides did not have a thread in it. The Velcro on the flap was sewn on correct but the pocket part wasn’t. I was very disappointed in this quality on an expensive item. I had to go to the store and get a heavy duty fabric glue to fasten the Velcro strip onto the pocket. Everything else seems to be ok with it.

I'm a special inspector and need plenty of pockets for all the fiddly little things field inspection requires. I think this vest might even have more pockets than I need, something I didn't think possible. Holds up well even for concrete inspection. Just don't put it in the dryer, the plastic zippers will become distorted and won't zip.

For those that know a safety vest is more than just a piece of fabric you need to wear on a job site... There are enough pockets to bring all your plans, survey equipment, tablet, phone, etc... the build quality seems to be high, with durable materials. Only complaint: the Small is still quite wide. But I have yet to find a men’s vest that fits well on a thin frame.

I was looking for a vest with pockets and wouldn't restrict me in the summertime. Usually, I fit well into medium vests, but I was swimming in this one. Instead of returning and ordering a new one (I didn't want to waste the money on shipping), I plan to use the medium in the colder months over my winter gear. It's a nice vest, just wrong size for me for what I was expecting to use it for.

Solid vest, multiple pockets for all my stuff, the back pocket is awesome for freeing up my hands. Only negative I have is the velcro tabs on the sides (on the water bottle pockets) are kinda sharp and poke my arms throughout the shift. Not a terrible, unbearable thing but it does annoy occasionally. I'll buy it again when I wear this one out. Sizing is accurate.

I was looking for a vest that had pockets for all my supplies I had to use at work. This one is outstanding and has plenty of pockets large and small for everything I need. I am a 5'4" female and purchased a small. The weight is on the shoulders and not pulling side to side hanging like the cheaper ones. The quality is fantastic and very durable. I don't wear a backpack now. It has so many pockets. It is fairly tough. People have been complaining about the stitching... that might be a problem but using it is just uncut threads that aren't properly cut during the finishing process. Overall, I am very pleased. I wear this to commute on my motorcycle.

The flaw of it is the pocket velcro on the vest not the pouch cover, the stitching is coming off already after less than 2 weeks on 3 of the pockets. Disappointed as a new vest and the velcro patch to close the pocket has defective stitching.

Holds up to heavy use. The zipper is usually the one thing to break, but not with this vest. The reflective strips don't peel away and is never compromised. The one issue is the threading at the top of the pockets maybe could be reinforced more. This is the best safety vest out, in my opinion. I work underground and visibility along with pockets to accommodate what I need is all afforded in this vest.

The Radians SV55-2ZGD Heavy Duty Two-Tone Engineer Safety Vest is a quality safety vest. I ordered and received a size 2XL. I should have ordered the vest in size XL. The vest I received is one size too large. There is another problem with the vest received. I am 6' 6" tall and the vest is too short. The vest should be four to six inches longer. The vest should be offered in XLT, XXLT and XXXLT tall sizes for the tall men who require it. I will return this safety vest very soon and I regret no tall sizes are available.

I ordered this after a few major traffic scenes where everything I needed to carry (radio, flashlight, writing materials, etc) took more hands than available. My normal vest was plenty reflective, but had no carrying ability. I knew I needed something with ample pockets, a place for a radio mic, and somehow capable of holding on to a notebook when I couldn't. This vest meets all my needs, has comfortable collar padding, and great reflectivity all around. If it had police patches, it would be even better. As it is, though, it is a great vest for the cost, and easily worth a spot in my truck. Great value.

Great Functionality, Super-Low & Bad Quality

As noted in the title - the functionality of this vest cannot be beat. The ample pockets and ability to organize everything I need to carry is great, and the vest could be perfect. However, the stitching on this vest is horrible to say the least. It began tearing and literally coming apart at the seams after only a couple weeks of VERY light wear (I'm an inspector). This was the case for the three-other inspectors wearing the same vest. Would highly recommend choosing a different brand.

I'm in the construction industry and depend on safety gear every day and this vest provides me with every need from carrying my iPad, Phone, various field documents with room to spare so I can keep my hands free. You can't go wrong with this vest...they do run large i.e. I usually take a large but with this vest a Med fit perfect.

A very solid vest, in that it doesn't feel like paper. Also, very light and lots of pockets which is great for foreman that lead from the front. Space for tablets, gloves, and note pads. And it looks very professional because it doesn't look like the ones that are available at the home improvement stores. A little high on price but worth the investment if you lead others.

Looks nice as far as style, but its thinner than I expected and the sewing thread is everywhere. The lime green thread is coming out and it is hanging out all over the vest. For $55 they could have done a better sewing job. Seriously..a nice vest, but not worth $55.

great pockets and keepers, fits large size smartphones in right breast area with Velcro fits galaxy s5 easily. Does hold some heat in front area, but cushioned neck line is a plus.

This was a great equivalent to the Seco 8265 which was much more expensive. Other reviewers questioned the quality but I think the quality is just fine. All of the zippers and Velcro pockets work as expected. The only reason I gave this vest 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because it is HOT! I will struggle to wear this on a warm/humid day, and I live in a fairly cool area (Minnesota). I have been wearing this vest for the last 2-3 weeks and I get much hotter in this than the vest I was wearing previously. I do not know if I could wear this vest in the summer time in a warmer climate. However, it will be great in the winter time!

All in all it's a pretty good vest. Very reflective, comfortable, pockets are nice but borderline excessive, sizes run a bit big but not too bad. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is poor fit and finish. Some loose threads both out of the package and continue to show up. For $45 I would have expected a little better finished product, but that's what you get for stuff coming from China. But it does the job and seems heavy duty enough to stand up to plenty of use.

I am satisfied with the vest. I am also glad I read previous reviews so that I was aware that the sizes ran large. I ordered one size less than I was going to order. Yes it did have strings as someone else had commented. I use the vest for surveying and the functionality of the vest was to my expectations.
