Should have known better...I took a chance

Bought for known brand name..RED KAP. I wanted to stay with cotton. This DIFFERENT type of cotton was not the same. My original shirt was a "chambray" cotton and this one seems to be a "drill" cotton fabric. I took a chance and lost. Washed it & it shrank. I'm buying the next size up if available. Cotton work shirts are harder to find because many believe in polyester fabrics. When I was young I worked outdoors and sweat a lot in the sun. I wanted to have the cotton soak up the sweat and it will keep it off my skin to dry quicker from the sun causing less bacteria to form and less irritations.

Had these provided through my workplace and they last a long time. Wear them once a week, wash them once a week and they last a long time. However, as with any clothing, they will wear out eventually! Even tough jeans wear out. I'd give them 5 years to start showing thin - well, especially since I roll up the sleeves and they rub on stuff. But great quality shirts. I just bought more on my own because they are good.

The cut looks like a much more expensive shirt. It is heavy but passes moisture like a towel. I cant wear repellent and bought this to wear in the summer heat to keep horse flies and mosquitoes off me. They bite right through a T shirt. I put button extenders on the cuffs so they would be loose but not open to the mosquitoes.

A few misses

Body length: What is it with Tall work shirts? Regular shirts have 7 front buttons. Any well-made Tall shirt will have 8 front buttons. You need 8 because *the shirt is longer*. You can't just *enlarge* the shirt. Red Kap missed that bulletin: they have 7. But at least the second-from-the-top is not too far down, so your whole chest is exposed (as with Dickies, which I disliked for many reasons), but still, it's not correct. Sleeves: The sleeve diameter is not adjustable-only one button per sleeve, not two-and they do not have the third button further up to help keep a rolled-up sleeve in place. The length is just a wee bit short-maybe 36.5-but they don't bind in my shoulders when I reach. Neck size: I ordered a "Long XL", and the neck size is about 16.5- amazingly, it fits me. Most generic XLTs are 17-17.5. Beware if you are beefier than am I (6'4", 185 lbs): the neck might be tight. Material: I like the 100% cotton (I work around high voltage). The fabric appears to be sturdy and resists wrinkles out-of-the-dryer (if not crammed in), but they are not "ironed". Sadly, there were a number of loose threads (always suspect), and they are definitely lint magnets. And they've only been through the wash twice, so who knows how they will hold up. I can't yet say how well they will release grease and dirt, but they are dark blue, so hey. Comparatively, the Dickies were great in that regard: sturdy, washable, non-wrinkling. Bottom line: I might buy them again, depending on how well they hold up. They are, I believe, made in the USA, always good. But you do get what you pay for: mediocre tailoring.
