For a woodturning smock zip it almost all the way and pull it over your head. The pockets would be in the back so as not to collect shavings and it will be up higher in the front to keep shavings out.

Not exactly a turning smock

I've used this for a bit now. It is very comfortable and I like the material, but there are some shortcomings to it. 1. The lower pockets are on the front and fill up with shavings. Put the pockets on the back side. 2. It is nothing but a v-neck shirt. The zipper is too short. Would like to see it go lower and definitely higher so it closes the neck and not allow chips to go down the neck. 3. Zipper seems to be very light. Would I buy another one, probably not for reasons 1 and 2 for sure. For a shirt, yes.
