Radians CEP001 Custom Molded Earplugs - Orange

I wish this review could be more positive. I'm married and my wife snores and have been looking for a reasonable solution. This seemed a worthwhile idea, so much so that I purchased a pair for me and a friend. The process of getting a good enough fit that allows easy removal is difficult. Then putting the finished product in is also difficult. The idea seems good but in use not so great. Even when fitted into your ears they don't do a very good job of blocking noise. Unfortunately you only get one shot at the fit and then you realize they aren't what you hoped.

Used these to make myself custom molded earpieces with my 2-way radios. Worked perfectly and was easy to create.

No trouble molding plugs & letting them solidify. Now cannot insert them in ears as tightly as they were when forming. They don't seem to deaden sound much more than the round, blunt-ended foam plugs. They ARE, however, much more comfortable after a few hours than the foam plugs. I will figure out a way to get them firmly in my ears and wear them when shooting.

These are tricky to mold. Both myself and the other recipient of the earplugs we ordered were unsuccessful. You almost need two people to do it (and a "practice" pair!). I just now saw you have a YouTube instructional video. Wish I would've watched it :(

After using Z- silicone plugs for many years I thought I'd try these. Generally, the instructions were fine except after doing the first ear I realized one would need to press much further into the ear canal than advised, when forming, to get the pictured results. Better the second try, though disappointed they weren't very pliable. I discovered over the years that despite the warnings silicone plugs need to be inserted into the ear canal to be effective, and I think the same applies to these. I would try these again if they were more pliable but as is only the second stays in place and it is no more effective than Z-.

These Custom Molded Earplugs are very effective and comfortable and cost far less than having them made (the shooting range charges about $40.00 for ones that they make for you). One caveat - follow the directions carefully including cleaning your ears first, be careful to mix equal portions of the two part silicone, and don't be afraid to exert a little pressure to ensure that the silicon flows into the entry to your ear canal. I use them for target shooting and when using gas powered equipment like leaf blowers and weed eaters. Far more comfortable and convenient than conventional ear muff type hearing protection.

Following the easy to use instructions, my plugs were made in minutes. I am presently using them as swimming ear plugs and I have no fear of them not working. This has always been a concern of mine as I have perforated ear drums and the slightest moister brings unbearable pain. I am very happy with my new plugs.
